Greetings from Tennessee

Top image is the front of this pack of photos from around Tennessee. The lower image is the back or the opening of the card pack. I know that this photo was taken in the mid-sixties and shot by C. H. Ruth (uncredited), who did aerial photo work for Haynes Distributing out of Roanoke. The card pack was published by Dexter Press of West Nyack NY. The interior copy mentions that the Opry was still in the Ryman, so it was certainly published before 1974.

  1. Hello, I have a complete series of 47 postcards with color photography of the city of Dayton, Ohio in the late 1940’s. The photos are of Dayton area landmarks and all have the notation “Kodachrome by C.H. Ruth”. I have been not been able to find any information on C.H. Ruth other than that which you have written in the subject post. Do you have any additional information on this photographer? Kindest regards, Ross

    • Thank you for your post. I don’t know a lot about Ruth. He worked for Haynes Distributing Company of Roanoke VA as (I think) a contract photographer who was skilled at taking aerial pix of landmarks. His name pops up on postcards in the East Tennessee area, where Haynes did a lot of postcard distributing.
